Just remembered
Rain hitting the windowpane at 5 a.m. sounded like a small animal making crackling footsteps on a piece of crumpled plastic. Falling back asleep, I thought that I wouldn’t fear the void so much if I gave it a nickname. The only one I could think of in my state of half-consciousness was Voidy. My terror is not clever.
